More than 50 volunteers have received awards from a housing trust for their work in the community.

Community volunteers were presented with trophies by Tina Barnard - chief executive of Watford Community Housing Trust at an awards dinner on Tuesday, April 29, at West Herts College.

The event saw lunch groups, residents’ associations, local charities, social enterprises and community transport schemes come together to celebrate their work.

Peter Scott, chairman of Hillside Residents’ Association, said: "This was a lovely gesture by the trust and I’ve got nothing but praise for what they’ve done. I don’t expect any thanks for what I do but it’s great to be recognised in this way. Fantastic food too."

Amy Willcox-Smith, communities manager, said: "We were delighted to host an evening for our resident volunteers. The time they commit makes a huge difference to our communities."
