Two more controversial cricket events are set to go ahead in Moor Park.

Merchant Taylors’ School submitted an application for a new premises licence to hold a 20/20 one-day cricket match and a four-day county cricket match at the Sandy Lodge Road site between May 25 and May 29.

Politicians have granted the licence after it was discussed at Three Rivers House last week.

Concerns were raised by Moor Park residents that the site was "inappropriate" for such large-scale tournaments.

An amended licence was submitted to the licensing committee and it was agreed that no recorded music will be played between May 26 and May 29.

A number of small speakers will be used rather than one large one and will be directed away from residential areas.

Other conditions include a signposted route for pedestrians from Moor Park Underground Station to the school, which is to be staffed by stewards.

Alcohol will be provided in plastic containers and vehicle access to the event will be directed from Hampermill Lane into Sandy Lodge Lane only.

Merchant Taylors’ School is the applicant for the licence and will be working with Middlesex County Cricket Club to run the event, which is expected to attract up to 5,000 spectators.

Permission was also granted for the Sri Lankan Schools Cricket Festival to be held at the site in July.
