Two men were arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle in Bushey, after an ANPR camera spotted the car they were travelling in.

The black Seat Leon was on the A41 travelling northbound in Bushey at 9.30pm on Monday night when the police caught up with them.

Andres Rodriguez-Marques, age 35, of Greenhill Road in Harlesden, London and Robert Brothers, age 32, of Exeter House in Hallfield Estate in London appeared at Hatfield Remand Court and pleased not guilty to all offences.

Mr Rodriguez-Marques was remanded in custody. Mr Brothers was given conditional bail not to enter Hertfordshire or Harrow, apart from attending court.

They are due to appear at Stevenage Magistrates Court on Monday May 19 and a trial date has been set for Thursday June 5 at St Albans Magistrates Court.

The pair are charged with theft of a mobile phone from the Mercure Hotel in Tylers Way on the A41 between 8.30pm and 9pm on Monday.  They are also charged with three thefts from motor vehicles in Harrow.

Detective Sergeant Alex Warwick from the Hertsmere Local Crime Unit, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who has had their car broken in to but not reported it to police.  We have had a number of offences over the past few months and believe there may be some unreported incidents."
