A gardener from Radlett joined forces with Alan Titchmarsh for this year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Kate Gould worked with Alan to design the garden, which is called ‘From the Moors to the Sea’, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of RHS Britain in Bloom and Alan’s own fifty years in horticulture.

The garden, which is pictured, represents how the 300,000 volunteers help to make "Britain bloom".

Watford Observer:

The garden depicts the Yorkshire Dales where more than fifty bloom groups work year round to transform their local streets and neighbourhoods and where Alan was born.

It finishes with a seaside scene to depict the Isle of Wight where civic pride has united volunteers, schools and businesses and where Alan has a home and garden.

Alan Titchmarsh said: "Kate Gould is one of this country's most accomplished young garden designers and I am delighted to be working with her.

"Her skill, style and refreshing approach to landscaping have been of tremendous value, and our partnership in this venture has demonstrated our joint commitment to artistic flair, originality of concept and quality of finish. I can think of no-one I would rather have worked alongside."

Kate, who has recently teamed up with a local bloom group in Hertfordshire, said: "I was surprised and honoured to be asked by the RHS to work on a garden with Alan Titchmarsh who has always been an inspiration both in terms of his approach to horticulture and to people.

"Britain in Bloom is a fabulous organization that unites communities in beautifying their shared spaces. That’s something we’d all like to see more of.

"It has been a fun and exciting process bringing this garden to life and lovely to work with someone who loves plants as much as I do, we worked very well together and the end result was well worth all the back breaking hours spent getting everything in place for the RHS deadlines."

The garden will not be judged as it is commemorating 50 years of Britain in Bloom.
