A Chipperfield resident will be joined by her sister as they complete a charity walk in memory of their mum.

Sarah Shaw, 55, of Alexandra Road, will be joined by her sister Gill Hill, 58, from Gillingham, Kent, as they complete the 11-mile Hospice of St Francis Midnight Walk on Saturday June 28.

The two women, who will be called "Mum’s Girls" throughout the event, are raising money for the Berkhamsted hospice after their mum Audrey Clark, died in October after a battle with cancer.

Audrey received home care from the hospice and received holistic care from the Hospice’s Spring Centre.

Sarah said: "The Hospice of St Francis means everything to us at the moment.

"Everything they did for Mum was fantastic. They just gave her the comfort and care that she needed, from sorting out handrails at home to massage therapy and gentle exercise classes in the Spring Centre and the support that they’ve given Dad since has just been incredible.

"Doing the Midnight Walk is our way of giving something back and calling ourselves ‘Mum’s Girls’ just seems right because we were so close."

Jamie Smith, community fundraiser at the Hospice said: "Sarah and Gillian’s story shows that the Hospice and its Spring Centre offer such an important support role for those in our local community."
