The Ukulele Sunshine Band strummed up smiles in the Starlight Lounge at Peace Hospice Care when they entertained patients, staff, volunteers and visitors.

Their repertoire of well-known songs proved to be a popular addition to the afternoon last Tuesday and was welcomed with warm applause from the audience.

Organised by Senior Healthcare Assistant, Rose Tallon, the band members enjoyed the opportunity to strum and sing.

Following their performance they presented a cheque for £30 to the charity and tucked into tea and cake.

Band member Jim O’Connor said: "We do get a great deal of satisfaction from playing ukulele and entertaining in the community."

For Brian Widdowson, Day Care patient Brian Widdowson said the entertainment provided a "boost to his well-being".

He added: "I was recording the music to share with my wife later. She loves ukulele. I do too. It really was so good to sit back and hear the songs and join in."
