Speeding motorists in Abbots Langley had their details recorded during a month-long speeding operation in the village.

Throughout May, Hertfordshire Constabulary recorded details of speeding drivers along six roads in the village.

Speed checks were set up in Bedmond Road, Church Hill, Clement Danes, Gallows Hill, Langleybury Lane and Lauderdale Road after police met with residents to identify where speeding is a problem.

PCSO Emma Coyle, who organised the scheme, said: "During the checks we recorded details of any vehicles travelling in excess of the speed limit and then followed up in person to speak to them about their speed or sent them warning letters."

The checks were part of Hertfordshire Constabulary’s speed awareness and enforcement operation.

Officers also visited Sarratt Primary School on Tuesday, May 6, and year 4 students had the opportunity to use the speed gun and the speed indication board at various points in the village.

Year five pupils were taught about road safety.

PCSO Coyle added: "Whilst there were people who were found to be driving above the speed limit, I hope this will make all drivers think twice about their speed, particularly near to schools."
