Watford Observer: Watford man raises enough money with run to fund a Macmillan nurse Watford man raises enough money with run to fund a Macmillan nurse

A Watford man is ran the Bupa 10K around London to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The cash Thomas Hehir, 53, of Euston Avenue, has already raised will fund a Macmillan nurse for 14 hours - keeping a cancer patient free from pain for about that time.

The run, on Sunday, May 25, set off in St James Park and passed many of London’s historical buildings.

Thomas said: "Being part of this great fund raising event is very special to me, I hope to raise much more than I anticipated for what I believe is a well-deserved charity with very special people who care."

The money that Thomas and the other Team Macmillan members raised from the event will help the charity fund much needed services within Hertfordshire.

Hertfordshire fundraising manager Kerry Cunnane said: "The funds that Thomas has raised from taking part in this event will make sure that no one faces cancer alone. Macmillan is there to help people diagnosed with cancer and their friends and family."
