Students from schools throughout south west Hertfordshire visited Hilton Worldwide in Maple Court, Orphanage Road, Watford, to find out about careers in the hospitality industry.

For hotel group May was "Careers@Hilton Live: Youth in Hospitality Month", and it was the company’s biggest ever worldwide event.

Students benefitted from the insights of staff from a number of the different departments, which support the running of the company’s 330-strong portfolio of hotels across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

This included completing a hotel design challenge with the architecture and construction department, taking part in a quiz with the marketing team on the power of brands in our everyday lives, and attending a CV clinic run by the office’s HR team.

They also got the chance to learn about the company’s engineering, finance, revenue management, IT, supply management and legal, teams.

Steve Ryan, vice president of HR consulting at Hilton Worldwide, based in Maple Court, said: "Young people continue to face challenging employment prospects, but the vibrant and growing hospitality industry offers some fantastic opportunities for young people with a diversity of interests and skills. Through this event at our EMEA regional headquarters we hope to give young people the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their future."
