A driver nearly crashed into more than ten pedestrians as he tried to escape from police in Watford.
Hertfordshire Constabulary say that a‘08’-plate black Ford Focus ST drove over a footpath on Bruce Grove after being approached by police on Tuesday, May 13.
It is believed that the officer approached the suspect before he acknowledged the officer and reversed his car towards them.
The car then alledgedly crossed over the footpath onto St Albans Road, nearly colliding with ten to 15 people, before driving away at speed.
The police wanted to talk to the suspect after he had previously failed to stop for the police.
It is believed that six police cars and a police helicopter were involved with the incident in Bedmond later the same day, but no arrests have been made.
The driver is described as a white man and around 5ft 8-10ins tall. He was wearing a white t-shirt and dark trousers.
PC Carlie Thomas said: "This is reported to have happened during the middle of the day when there were quite a large number of people around.
"I would like to hear from anyone who was present at the time of the incident or saw the vehicle prior to or after this."
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Thomas via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, citing reference C4/14/1045, or via e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
