A Rickmansworth company has been presented with Watford and Three Rivers Trust’s (W3RT) first Business Community Champion Award.

Travis Perkins, in Wharf Street, was recognised for its outstanding contribution to the W3RT and voluntary sector.

Ian Port, interim director of W3RT Connect, presented Sean Mahon, manager of the Travis Perkins branch in Rickmansworth with the award.

Mr Port said: "The Community Champions Award is one way that we can thank both businesses and their employees for their support and commitment to the local voluntary sector.

"Sean and the team have given many hours of their time raising money for local charities, as well as sharing their expertise through business mentoring and helping with refurbishment projects."

Dan Beresford, regional manager at Travis Perkins, who nominated Sean and the team for the award, also announced that they will be introducing an employee volunteering programme at three of their local branches.

Mr Mahon said: "Everyone in the Rickmansworth branch is delighted we’ve been recognised as a W3RT Business Community Champion.

"For us, volunteering is part of who we are already, but the award has given us a bench mark to live up to and develop and I’m sure we will."
