A group of volunteers are clubbing together to run a new lunch club for Leavesden Green residents to get to know each other.

Sheila’s Meals will start from June 18 and will take place every other Wednesday at Leavesden Green Community Hub off Clarke Way.

For £5, visitors can enjoy a healthy two-course meal with their neighbours.

The volunteers will divide tasks such as laying tables, serving food and washing up between them.

They are being supported by Watford Community Housing Trust, which has paid for catering equipment from its community development fund.

Shelagh Francis, one of the founders of the new lunch club, said: "It’s all about getting people out of the house and helping them to make new friends. It’s a great way to socialise and enjoy a nourishing two course meal for just £5.

"I’m so grateful to my fellow volunteers for giving up their time for the local community."

People can book a place at Sheila’s meals in advance by calling 01923 209186.
