Watford woman Nancy Worrall has celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by friends and family at Croxley House care home.

Watford born and bred Nancy married husband Jack, a soldier, in September 1944 after family in the local area introduced the couple.

Nancy worked in the London Midland and Scottish Railway Offices in Euston and volunteered for more than 50 years delivering library books to Watford General Hospital.

She also enjoyed tennis in Cassiobury Park, playing the piano and growing tomatoes even though she doesn’t eat them.

Nancy was also a keen bridge player until about 90.

She has one brother and one half brother.

Nancy was happy to receive a telegram from the Queen during her birthday celebrations.
