Improvements to a community area in Abbots Langley will be officially unveiled tomorrow.
A sheltered meeting space, wild flower meadow, a children’s story circle and new footpaths have all been installed on the green, off School Mead.
However, in April, the canopy on the sheltered meeting space was damaged by vandals.
The work cost £60,000 and was funded by the Better Communities Fund - a £9million funding programme allocated by Watford Community Housing Trust to improve aspects of the community in Watford and Three Rivers.
The housing association allocated the money for School Mead after an application by Hillside Residents’ Association and the pair worked with residents to create the design for the green.
Euan Barr, head of new business at Watford Community Housing Trust, said: "We are really proud of the work we’ve done with the residents’ association to transform the green. By working together we have made it into a space that can be enjoyed by the whole community."
Children from Tanners Wood JMI School will sing at the event, with a plaque being unveiled to commemorate the occasion. Abbots Langley Children’s Centre will be providing face painting, while Three Rivers Play Rangers will be proving a number of activities on the green.
