Police hunting for gunman after two cars shot at while waiting at Garston traffic lights

Police are hunting for a gunman after two cars were shot at while waiting at traffic lights in Garston.

A silver Chrysler estate and a black Vauxhall saloon were shot at by a gunman armed with what police believe is an air rifle while waiting at traffic lights at the A405 junction along St Albans Road yesterday.

The rear windscreen of the Chrysler was smashed and the Vauxhall was damaged as the gunman shot at the stationary car.

One of the victims reported on Facebook: "When my rear screen was struck, which I initially thought was a loose stone from a passing vehicle. A few seconds later, it was struck again, this time shattering the glass into the car.

"At this point I ran the lights not wanting to wait for a third hit. I then called the police and after they searched my car they found a gun pellet behind the front passenger seat.

"The terrifying thing is that the only way that could travel there is through the window and over my children’s heads. I would like this person to be found now before someone gets seriously injured."

No one was hurt in either of the incidents, which occurred at 7.30pm and 7.35pm.

Anyone with any information in relation to these incidents should contact Hertfordshire Constabulary via the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.

There is CCTV at the lights on the A405 and there is CCTV camera looking towards the Harvester - how about the police having a look at that as surely it will show somome walking in that area, maybe going into the park or coming out once the shots have been fired etc... Just an idea - Oh if they walked passed Harvester/Costcutter perhaps they have CCTV! Come on Watford Police!!

When they catch this person the courts need to make an example of them and throw the book at them, Not a slap on the wrist like they usually do, what if they had a young child or other passenger in the back of that car?

Nothing wrong with them asking for witnesses either! Who saysd they arent already doing what you suggest and a lot more?!

But I agree with the other posters, whoever did this needs to be caught and punished. What a low life

...apparently they did have young passengers

"The terrifying thing is that the only way that could travel there is through the window and over my children's heads...."

Whoever did this is a menace to all road users, not just drivers & not just those that use that junction! I know it's only an Air Rifle, but if the pellet hits someone in the temple, for example, it can still kill.

Find the shooter & give them 10 years to think about what they've done.

If armed police appear and see someone with a gun they won't mess about finding out if it's an air rifle or not, they'll tackle the situation just like any other armed response. There's a possibility this idiot could end up in a pool of his own blood thinking what bought that on.

Rather his pool of blood than some little kid he's shot because he was 'having a laugh'.
