Clients, volunteers and staff at Watford Mencap will be celebrating Learning Disability Week in Watford town centre on Saturday.

BSV Jazz Band will be playing outside Ladbrokes and collecting money for Watford Mencap and the cash donated will be doubled by the turf accountants.

Watford Mencap offices are based in Rickmansworth and volunteers will be collecting there too, in the town centre and the train station, on Tuesday, June 17.

Anyone who contributes will be given a voucher to go in to their offices and get a cup of tea and a piece of cake.

There they will have a chance to learn more about the services Watford Mencap offers people with learning disabilities in Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere.

Sticking with the cake theme, the people of Chorleywood will be taking the opportunity to buy cakes made by the residents and staff of Thorpedale, one of the Watford Mencap residential homes.

This has become an annual event on the streets of Chorleywood and this year it will be held on Friday, June 20.

The fundraising and awareness initiative will conclude on Sunday, June 22, when residents of Berrywood, another Watford Mencap home, will be taking part in a sponsored swim at The William Penn Leisure Club.
