A 14-year-old Watford schoolboy was approached by a stranger in a van yesterday.
Police are investigating the "suspicious incident" which occurred at 2.40pm on Thursday, June 12, in Tolpits Lane.
The boy was approached by a van driver who offered him a lift. He refused the offer.
Detective Inspector Jason Keane said: "I would reassure parents that this incident is being investigated and we’re making a number of enquiries into what happened to ascertain the driver’s intent. I’d also reassure parents that no physical contact was made with the boy.
"However, whilst we are working to establish the full circumstances, it’s a good opportunity for parents to advise their children about what to do should they be approached by a stranger.
"If anyone does see anyone or anything unusual or suspicious near a school they should call us immediately via 101."
