Three quick-thinking schoolgirls who called an ambulance after seeing a 10-month-old baby who had stopped breathing have been presented with a Recognition of Public Service certificate.
Helena Gordon, 12, Daisy Taylor and Scarlett Smith, both 11, were given the certificate by Chief Inspector Dave Wheatley at Watford Police Station.
After seeing the baby in difficulty at around 3pm on Thursday, April 10, in Poundworld the girls called the ambulance service, gave brief details of what they had seen and details of exactly where the incident had happened.
The three then stood outside and waited for the paramedics and police to arrive.
The baby was taken to hospital where she made a full recovery.
Chief Inspector Dave Wheatley said: "Their quick actions helped the baby to get help it needed quickly.
"They displayed great courage in what was a very difficult incident to witness. Their actions that day deserve to be recognised and I felt very proud presenting their certificates at the station."
