A man has been arrested on suspicion of committing criminal damage after windscreen wipers were pulled off a dozen cars in Watford last week.

The incidents occurred at about 1.20am on Friday, June 13, in Essex Road and St Albans Road. A resident called police after witnessing a man damaging vehicles.

A 20-year-old man from Watford was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. He has been released on police bail whilst the investigation continues.

Chief inspector for Watford, Dave Wheatley, said: "Mindless damage can cause the victim the inconvenience to get their car repaired, not to mention being out of pocket.

"This is something we take seriously in Watford. I’d thank the resident for calling police when they witnessed the damages happening.

"I’d urge anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to call police immediately so we can attend."
