Bushey Grove Leisure Centre has been chosen to host one of the six British Padel Tour gold tournaments this weekend.

The Bushey Grove Padel Open will include a men’s open and ladies open on the centre’s three outdoor Padel Tennis Courts which were opened two years ago in a project with North London Padel Tennis Club.

Dean Tearle, operations manager, said: "We are delighted and privileged to be hosting one of six gold tournaments in the British Padel Tour.

"Our three outdoor padel tennis courts have been a real boost to the facilities we offer here at the centre and we are seeing more and more people from the community become interested in taking up the sport.

"If you have never seen padel tennis then I would urge you come down to the centre at the weekend to take a look. It’s a fascinating game and one that you cannot help but be interested in taking up once you have seen it in action."

Padel is typically played in doubles on an enclosed court about half the size of a tennis court. The balls used and the scoring is the same as normal tennis, just with a little less pressure.

Yhe court has walls and the balls can be played off them in a similar way as in the game of squash.
