Times Editor John Witherow and director of communications and corporate affairs of News UK Guto Harri lead the debate with students from throughout London at the News Academy Conference in London.
Aspiring journalists from Watford Grammar School for Girls attended the News Academy Conference, hosted by News UK, publisher of The Sun, The Times and Sunday Times, in London on Tuesday.
The conference, one of a number being held around the country, aims to inspire the next generation of news makers.
The event kicked off with an introduction by MP Simon Hughes and Guto Harri.
A debate on the future of "news in a digital age" followed and was led by news partnership manager at Twitter, Joanna Geary, communities editor at The Times and The Sunday Times, Ben Whitelaw, assistant editor at internet magazine Spiked, Tom Slater, and social editor at The Sun, James Manning.
The grammar school girls were joined by students from 21 other schools and colleges around London.
