Luther Blissett to don Hornets kit one more time at Watford Observer Fun Day
Hornets legend Luther Blissett has promised to don the yellow of Watford FC one more time when he plays in the charity football match which is the centre-piece of the Watford Observer’s funday on Sunday, July 6.
Blissett played more than 500 games for Watford FC and scored 186 goals. He also famously signed for AC Milan for £1m 21 years ago and was capped 14 times by England.
The striker will be playing for Watford FC OFPA (Official Former Players’ Association) alongside the likes of Steve Terry, Allan Smart, Neil Price, Andy Hessenthaler and Gavin Mahon, against Arsenal Legends in a match that kicks off at 1.30pm.
The Arsenal side features a host of ex-pros from the Gunners and a collection of stars from TV, music and other sports.
The fun day, run in conjunction with the Bushey Sports Club in Aldenham Road, promises a great day of family entertainment.
It gets under way at 11.30pm and as well as the challenge match, it will feature funfair rides, a car show, penalty shoot-out competition, displays of Irish, clog morris and Indian dancing, barbecue, bar and raffle.
The event will raise money for the Observer’s chosen charity for the year, Singpost, which provides, advice, comfort and a friendly ear, to troubled young people living in south west Hertfordshire.
