A taxi driver was robbed after picking up three men and driving them to a remote campsite.

The robbery, which happened at around 9.45pm on Thursday, took place after the driver collected the men from a cab office in Seven Sisters Road.

Although originally asking to be driven to Chingford, the men asked to get out at the Lee Valley Campsite in Sewardstone Road, Waltham Abbey, before restraining the driver and stealing two mobile phones, cash and keys.

They also tried to steal the taxi, a silver Toyota estate, but were unsuccessful.

Police are now asking for help identifying the men.

The first suspect is described as a black man, aged about 20-years-old, black hair, medium build, and wearing a grey coloured top with a hood and blue jeans and trainers.

The second is also described as a black man, about 18-years-old, low cut black hair, skinny build, wearing light grey T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police have said the third is a lighter-skinned black man, aged about 18 years old, with a brown low cut afro, skinny build, and wearing a black hooded top and black jeans.

One of the men is described as having cornrows in his hair, but it is unknown which one.

Anyone who knows about the robbery or the identity of the men are asked to contact PC Amy Kavanagh at Loughton CID on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
