Young drivers in Bushey witnessed a reconstruction of a car accident as part of a hard-hitting road safety campaign to teach them they are not "invincible".
The awareness campaign is touring schools across the county during summer term and last week it visited 16 to 18-year-olds at Bushey Meads School on Coldharbour Lane.
The event, run by Hertfordshire Road Safety Partnership for year 12 students, was to educate young motorists about road safety through a series of workshops.
One involves the reconstruction of an accident, including a lifeless body lying in front of the crashed.
Hertfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for community protection, Richard Thake said: "Young people often feel invincible and sadly that isn’t the case.
"It’s important that new drivers understand the risks that irresponsible driving poses to themselves and other road users. Megadrive equips students to handle situations as both a driver and a passenger.
"It informs them how to buy their first car, the consequences of not wearing a seatbelt and the effects of alcohol and drugs on driving."
