A pupil from Knutsford school has won the first inter-school spelling competition for primary schools in the Watford area.
Holy Rood school hosted the American-style spelling bee on July 1, with eight school from across Watford competing for the individual and school spelling titles.
The overall winning school was St. Anthony's, with Knutsford Primary and St. Catherine of Siena as runners-up.
The winning individual speller was Jonathan Hussey from Knutsford Primary who was the only finalist to spell "phenomenon" correctly and take the title.
The other schools taking part were Alban Wood, Warren Dell, Central and St. Joseph's & St Meryl.
Mayor Dorothy Thornhill handed out the prizes.
