UPDATE: Six-year-old who died after collision with car was Lara Fernandes-Pontes

Police are appealing for witnesses after a child died following a collision in South Oxhey this afternoon.

The incident took place at about 3pm in when a Landrover Discovery was involved in an accident with a six-year-old girl in Hayling Road.

An air ambulance was called to the scene. The girl was taken to hospital where she died.

Sergeant Chris Kent said: “This is a tragic loss of a young life in these circumstances. The family are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.

“The driver and the occupants of the vehicle were unharmed but obviously shaken by what happened.

“At the moment we are investigating the circumstances of the collision and whilst we have spoken to a number of people at the scene, we’d be keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened and has not yet spoken to officers.”
