Watford's Queens Road Summer Market was officially opened by elected mayor Dorothy Thornhill on Saturday.

The market, organised by councillor Helen Lynch, will be held on alternate Saturdays throughout the summer with entertainment from 12pm to 4pm.

The first performers were dancers from The Three Rivers Jive Club, who put on a colourful display of 1950's style jiving in authentic 1950s costumes.

The dancers were supported by DJ Jiveboy who played original Rock and Roll songs for the stall holders and shoppers.

Three Rivers Jive Club, meets at Croxley British legion every Tuesday at 8pm for a beginners jive lesson followed by two hours of dancing. Details at www.rockandrolljive.co.uk.
