Hundreds of worshippers from more than 20 different churches gathered around the Watford Bandstand on Sunday for the annual Christians Across Watford open-air service.

For the 14th year running, Christians from across the spectrum of denominations enjoyed an all-age service to celebrate their unity as part of "one Church in this town, and for this town".

On Sunday the focus was on working together as a "winning team", where trust and respect help build a stronger community.

The speaker was Clive Ross, chaplain to Watford Football Club, who spoke during an interview of the importance of teamwork in achieving success.

Drawing from his insights and experiences of life as club chaplain, Clive encouraged the congregation to develop a stronger team spirit, working against division in the church and appreciating each other’s strengths.

The rain stayed away, and the gospel music resounded around the bandstand as members of Watford Elim Church led worship, with spoken contributions from members of Soul Survivor Watford, North Watford Nazarene Church, South Oxhey Baptist Church, St Peter’s, Wellspring Church and others.

Rev Tim Roberts, chairman of Christians Across Watford , said: "What has been so good about today is the breadth and depth of our unity as Christians in Watford. We aren’t competing against one another. We are in fact on the same team, and our goal is to serve God by serving our town."
