A South Oxhey church was broken into last night.

Between 11.19pm and 11.23pm the glass window of St Martin’s Church, in Muirfield Road, was smashed.

Offenders reached through, opened the fire door and entered the church, turning on the lights.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said they tried to gain entry to the locked office by smashing a second pane of glass and attempted to open the window from the inside, but were unsuccessful.

They then left the building, carrying two bin bags down Muirfield Road, making off in the direction of Oxhey Drive.

One man is described as being between 1.77 metres and 1.87 metres tall, slim and white.

Another man is described as being broad, between 1.67 metres and 1.77 metres tall and was wearing a light beige or cream coloured long sleeve top.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on 101, quoting the crime reference number C3/14/795.
