An upcoming public meeting is an opportunity to increase Neighbourhood Watch membership in Abbots Langely, according to a member of a residents' association.
Phillip Hayes, of Hillside Residents Association, believes that the public meeting, which is being held on Tuesday, July 29, at Manor House Sports and Social Centre, Gallows Hill Lane, will be a good opportunity to get more people "actively" involved in neighbourhood watch.
Sue Thompson, community co-ordinator of Three Rivers Neighbourhood Watch Association, will be in attendance.
Hertfordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, David Lloyd will also be giving a speech at the event, which begins at 7pm.
Mr Hayes said: "We are trying to re-organise it with Sue and get it back on track and we see this as a good opportunity at the meeting.
"Hopefully we will get people to sign up and be active members of Neighbourhood Watch."
On Mr Lloyd's speech, Peter Scott, chairman of Hillside Residents Association said: "What we really would quite like to know is what the police are working with the public on and we hope he is going to explain what part we can play as a residents association."
Watford’s Conservative MP, Richard Harrington was originally due to attend, but has since pulled out of the meeting, which is being hosted by the voluntary organisation.
