A Rickmansworth man raised more than £170 for a Watford charity, which offers support to those with learning difficulties.

Stuart Cattons, of Berry Lane, took part in a charity swim at William Penn Leisure Centre during Learning Disability Week, which ran from July 16 to 22.

The 52-year-old swam 15 lengths and raised more than £170, donating the proceeds to his sponsored charity, Watford Mencap.

Carol Tunstall, Watford Mencap’s fundraising manager, said: "It’s great to see our service users, such as Stuart, supporting the charity by fundraising for us.

"We decided to use Learning Disability Week as an opportunity to raise the public’s awareness of the challenges that people with learning disabilities face in everyday life. Our thanks go to everyone who helps us to improve their quality of life".
