A technician working at bus operator Arriva the Shires’s Garston depot won national recognition last week at the IRTE Skills Challenge engineering awards.
Keval Rayatt, along with teammates from two other Arriva garages, walked away with the competition’s top prize, the IRTE Award for Outstanding Achievement, beating technicians from nine other public transport companies.
He started his engineering career as an apprentice working with classic motors in Harlesden, Wembley, before joining London Transport in 1986, where he was promoted to heavy crash work in 1992.
eval, who lives in Luton, joined Arriva in 2008 where he currently works in quality control.
