Nurse Mussarat Iqbal and Sister Kelly Barnes held a cake sale at Spire Bushey Hospital on Thursday, July 17, to raise money for a children’s charity.

Mussarat regularly holds charity events with her local church, but was inspired to raise money for a children’s charity after losing her nephew in May this year. She chose the Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs, free of charge, to children suffering hair loss.

After talking to her colleagues and Sister Kelly, they decided to hold a cake sale for a children’s charity.

Overwhelmed by the generosity of their colleagues, friends and the hospital, Mussarat said: "I lost my nephew Abrahim in May this year and I wanted to do something to raise money for a children’s charity.

"So I spoke to Kelly about holding a cake sale. My daughter Sophia, Kelly and I baked many of the cakes. I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us and donated money for such a worthwhile charity."

A total of £176.67 was raised from the cake sale for the Little Princess Trust.

Mussarat will be going one step further for the Little Princess Trust by donating seven inches of her hair when she has it cut on Monday, September 1.
