Fifteen pupils from Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Bushey lined up to form a guard of honour for the Super League rugby league clash between London Broncos and St Helens at The Hive on Saturday.

The children’s visit was part of a special afternoon of charity activity with the proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support - the nominated charity of Selco Builders Warehouse, main sponsors of the Broncos.

The children, along with family and friends, were then VIPs at the match - which St Helens won 58-16 - as special guests of Selco.

Foundation governor at the school, Sheila Murphy said: "It was a fantastic experience for the children and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

"For them to play a role in a big sporting fixture like that was a great thrill and our thanks go to Selco Builders Warehouse and London Broncos for making that happen."

Selco marketing director Helen Cooper said: "We were delighted that the pupils of Sacred Heart could support our charity fixture held in conjunction with the London Broncos.

"It brought another exciting element to the day. And all the children seemed to enjoy the experience of being up close to some of the biggest names in rugby league."

A total of £2,500 was raised on the day, from bucket collections and from a £1 donation made by the London Broncos from each ticket sold.
