The Christ Church War Memorial has been restored in time for the World War One centenary commemorations.
Work on the 93-year-old monument was carried out in partnership with Watford Borough Council, Christ Church, War Memorials Trust, North Watford History Group and Hertfordshire County Council.
The inscriptions on the memorial, which had deteriorated with many becoming illegible, have now been repaired.
Volunteers from the North Watford History Group carried out research to ensure that names would be accurately re-engraved.
Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill said: "The memorial is an important visual reminder for Watford of those who gave their lives in the Great War.
"It has been beautifully restored and I hope generations to come will reflect on the names inscribed and the sacrifice they made."
