Little Shay Murray from Watford was among 250 VIPs who attended a children’s party at Belmont Children’s Farm in North London on Thursday.
The party was organised by Starlight Children’s Foundation, which is a national charity that grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children and provides entertainment in hospitals and hospices across the UK.
Shay suffers from a life-limiting condition called Pearson Marrow Pancreas Syndrome, which is caused by a deletion in mitochondrial DNA.
Pearson Syndrome is very rare, with fewer than 100 cases reported worldwide.
As a result of his condition, Shay was referred to Starlight for a wish and in March 2012 and he was granted his wish to be a rock star for the day.
He was given his very own electric blue guitar, had a rock session with up and coming band Halfway to New York and visited Absolute Radio.
Shay attended the party with mum and dad, Sharon and Alan, and sisters Cearney aged three, and Chrissy aged 11.
There were a host of activities for the young guests, including tractor rides, police, fire brigade and RAF displays, football with Chelsea FC and mascot Stamford the Lion, face painting and tug of war.
There was also a barbecue and each child went away with a Starlight goodie bag full of treats.
