Rickmansworth Aquadrome and Chorleywood House Estate are among the best parks and green spaces in the country.

The two beautiful parks are among the 1,476 to receive the prestigious Green Flag Award today by environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy.

If a park flies the green flag then it is a sign that the space is very well maintained and has excellent facilities.

Leavesden Country Park also received a Grean Flag Award.

Councillor Keith Williams, Three Rivers’ cabinet member for leisure community and wellbeing, said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive three Green Flag Awards for 2014 from Keep Britain Tidy.

"This award recognises and highlights that people in Three Rivers are benefitting from green space of the very highest quality.

"After the severe weather earlier in the year, which caused a lot of damage to the parks, they are now back in tip-top condition and I encourage everyone to visit them during the holiday period."

Paul Todd, Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award scheme manager, said: "We are delighted to announce yet another record-breaking year for Green Flag Award parks and green spaces.

"A Green Flag Award provides national recognition for all the parks’ managers, staff and volunteers who, through their dedication and hard work, have helped to create these fantastic places for everyone to enjoy.

"Quality green spaces are a vital resource for communities and that is why it is so significant that we have given out more awards than ever before."
