A "very popular and lovely lady" has been left in a critical condition, and a motorcyclist seriously injured, after an accident in Kings Langley.
Officers from the Road Policing Unit are appealing for witnesses after the collision, which took place yesterday at about 12.45pm.
One villager, who asked not to be named, described the pedestrian as "a very popular and a lovely lady.
"We were all very scared about the outcome," they added.
A black XT600 Tenere Yamaha motorcycle was travelling north along the road when it was in a collision with a pedestrian.
The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his late 20s, received serious injuries and was taken to Watford General Hospital. He is in a stable condition.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, also received serious injuries and was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in London. She is in a critical condition.
