To mark the centenary of the declaration of World War One, Christchurch Chorleywood will be opening its doors for a Time to Reflect session today.
The Rickmansworth Road church will be open from 9am to 8pm.
Although no service will be held, an area will be created around the memorials where visitors can sit for as long as they want to reflect and remember.
In addition, St Mary’s Church, in Rickmansworth High Street is home to the Rickmansworth World War One memorial.
The lion sculpture in Basing Gardens was detached from the memorial some years ago and the memorial in the church is the official site of commemoration.
