Watford Borough Council has warned residents to beware of extended parking restrictions during the football season.

Enforcement times are extended in Zones F, J, K, L, S and T until 10pm when weekday matches take place, between 1pm and 6.30pm on Sunday matches and between 8am and 6.30pm on Bank Holiday matches.

In addition, restrictions within Zone M/N are enforced between 6pm to 10pm on weekday matches and 1pm to 6.30pm on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays matches.

The council has written to 5,000 households and local businesses in the West Watford area to let them know on which days Watford FC will be playing their matches in the 2014/2015 season.

Liam Hornsby, from Watford Borough Council’s Parking Service, said: "The dates of the next fixtures to be played are also publicised on the council’s website, the Parking Shop in Market Street, via the freephone match day advice telephone number (0800 012 1753) and also on the Controlled Parking Zones entry signs located at all entrances to the zones which display the latest dates to be enforced.

"The council and clubs have no control over the scheduled fixtures, which are subject to change. These are made by companies who own the television rights. This particularly applies to cup and play-off matches which are dependent upon the progress of the club and so may not appear in the fixture list supplied to residents."

As a result, all residents are reminded to check the dates of upcoming fixtures to ensure that single yellow line restrictions are observed and permits, visitor vouchers and pay and display tickets are displayed during the additional hours.

The first match days of this season to be enforced are Saturday, August 9, Sunday, August 23 and Saturday, August 30.
