A traditional sports day fun including egg and spoon races and a fun fair are just some of the activities at a Family Fun Day at the award-winning King George Recreation Ground on Sunday August 17.

The Family Fun Day takes place every year and this year families can look forward to races and games as well as face painting, Ju Jitsu, tug of war, music with a live DJ and much more.

The event runs from 12 noon to 5pm and is run by Hertsmere Leisure’s Motivate4 Events Team in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council and Friends of King George Recreation Ground.

Rob Dodkin, Hertsmere Leisure’s Operations and Events manager, said: "This is a fantastic family event which will keep everyone of all ages entertained. There are the races and games for the more energetic, a fun fair and face painting to keep the children entertained but also music and Ju Jitsu displays if you just want to sit and enjoy the park’s surroundings."

Medals will be given to the winners of the games which will also include sack and space hopper races.
Cllr Jean Heywood, Environment Portfolio Holder with responsibility for parks, said: "This family fun day with a sporty theme was held for the first time last year and due to its popularity it’s being held again.

"King George Recreation Ground has been at the centre of the Bushey community for more than 100 years so we know local residents will come along, get involved and have a great time."
