Children, parents and teachers at Kings Langley Secondary School are set to wait longer to find out if plans to rebuild the school will go ahead.

Plans include demolishing the current school, in Love Lane and replacing it with a new three story block with what headteacher Gary Lewis described as "state of the art facilities."

These proposals were submitted to Dacorum Borough Council in May and the decision was expected to be made this week, but the council confirmed that no decision has been made yet.

Lou Fuller, communications and consultation assistant at Dacorum Borough Council, said that the application was "likely to be considered in October."

If the plans are accepted, two full size football pitches, three tennis and netball courts, an under-14s football pitch, a rugby pitch and five cricket strips will be created on the site.

There will also be additional parking and a new drop-off zone to ease congestion on surrounding roads, with enough space for eight coaches in a new turning circle.

A "state of the art" sports hall will be built and pupils will have the opportunity to access a covered outdoor amphitheatre.

Kings Langley Secondary School will be rebuilt after the Education Funding Agency (EFA) announced that the school would be one of 8 to be rebuilt. The school is expected to be finished in July 2016.

The building work will be carried out by Interserve Kajima and the EFA estimate that the build will cost in the region of £15million.

The architects at Interserve Kajima focused on re-positioning the new three-tier school to "maximise the environmental performance of the teaching areas" and get as much natural light into the school as possible.
