A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon last night after reports that a man was "waving" a meat cleaver around in a South Oxhey street.
Hertfordshire Constabulary was called to Ilkley Road at about 7.40pm following reports that a man was in the street being aggressive with a meat cleaver.
Officers closed the road, along with nearby Benton Road and Bramshaw Gardens as a precaution.
There are no reports that anybody was injured.
Sarah Spence, police spokesman, said: "A member of the public called us to report a male in the street. He was allegedly being aggressive and was waving a meat cleaver."
A man from South Oxhey was arrested in Ilkley Road at about 8.30pm on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He is still in police custody.
