The newspaper reported a novel twist on the old saying “like a bull in a china shop”, by relating an alarming incident which occurred in Rickmansworth.
A large bullock on its way to Watford Market ran straight into the newsvendors’ shop of Messrs Carter and Co in Rickmansworth High Street.
Fortunately, local butcher Mr A Wright, junior, who was used to dealing with rather less lively creatures, managed to catch hold of the animal’s horns and steer it out of the shop without doing any damage.
