Messrs Rogers Bros have been the first to adopt the electric light in Watford and have fitted up a three-light electrolier both inside and outside their establishment in High Street. The light is most brilliant and has attracted a large concourse of people.
On Thursday there took place at Watford Heath the formal opening of the drinking fountain erected in memory of the late Mr W.T. Eley, of Oxhey Grange, by his sisters. The fountain has been placed upon an excellent site opposite the old school.
The ideal in regard to the promenade concerts by the Watford Rifle Volunteer Band was as nearly as possible realised on Monday evening. The weather, so unpropitious on two evenings for which the concert was announced, was everything that could be desired; a clear twilight was succeeded by a brilliant moon.
