Everything came up rosey at the Green Canteen in Garsmouth Way, Watford, at the weekend.
Volunteers who help maintain the community garden organised a summer fair for people to go along and learn more about the project and buy fresh grown fruit, veg and potted plants, and try their hands at a variety of crafts and games.
The Green Canteen is a social enterprise scheme backed by Watford Community Housing Trust and Herts Mind Network.
It is a place where visitors can pick up gardening and horticultural skills, either as a volunteer or on a three-week course for £10.
The Green Canteen also has a "trading shed" selling second-hand gardening equipment, such as pots, tools and watering cans. Profits from the sale of tools and produce is reinvested back in the project.
To learn more about the Green Canteen, which is located between 24 and 26 Garsmouth Way on the Meriden estate, contact coordinator Caron Brennan on 07554 428928 or email caron.brennan@hertsmindnetwork.org.
