Young volunteers helped revamp a pond in Bushey after it started leaking water.

Students on the National Citizenship Service, restored the water feature at The Lincolnsfields Centre, Bushey Hall Drive, after it stopped holding water.

The newly refurbished pond, which was halved in size and given a gutter to drain away rain water, was officially unveiled by the Mayor of Hertsmere, Carey Keates, at a ceremony last Thursday.

Rachel Collins, children’s services manager at The Lincolnsfields Centre said: "The pond had decided it didn’t want to hold water anymore.

"Last year, they were designing some new signs for us and then they approached us this year and asked us if we had any projects that we needed doing.

"So we said yes, we have the pond and we also got the disabled access.

"It looks good."

However, Ms Collins revealed that work on the pond isn’t completely finished yet, with the slabs around the side of the pond set to be refurbished.
