A man from Rickmansworth claims he has seen a UFO and is looking for other people to corroborate his story.
George Cross, 75, of Colne Mead, claims he was in bed on Sunday morning when he was woken by a loud sound at 1.15am.
He said: "It sounded like a very loud engine going. I though, 'what the Devil was that?' I got up and had a look, and saw a round object 1,000 or 2,000 feet up, with lights all around the rim and a big light in the centre.
"I thought it must have woken up the neighbours but it didn't. I later spoke to four neighbours but they had all taken a tablet that night, so they would not have woken anyway.
He added: "I went to get some binoculars to see it better but when I came back, it had gone. When I woke up the next morning, I wondered if I had dreamed it but the binoculars were out of their case. It is so certain in my mind and I am sure I did not imagine it."
A spokesman for the police confirmed they had received a report of a UFO from Mr Cross, but said there had been no other sightings.
