A pet cat has been "shot" twice and found beheaded by the owners in the back garden of their north Watford home.

Police are looking into the incident after the owners returned home yesterday at 1pm to find their cat with its head detached in their garden in Westfield Avenue.

The owners took the pet to their vet, who also noticed two puncture wounds he thought could be shot wounds.

The vet determined the cat's injuries did not appear to have been caused by an animal.

Hertfordhshire Constabulary confirmed they are investigating the incident.

How very sad for the cat and the owners. However, Watford Observer that is one of the most poorly written articles I have seen lately, at first it seems like the owners did it.

It's a bit sad, but I lack sympathy for those who keep killers as pets. No one writes anything about all the songbirds killed by cats....

Neighbours cat has crapped in my front garden again. This what I cant stand with cats. Owners should use a litter tray in here own home instead of letting them out to crap in oher peoples gardens!

Cats are animals and are natural hunters. You can't change nature. Do you then feel sorry for all the worms and insects eaten by the birds? But we are human, we have more intelligence and have morals and should know that killing is wrong. This would appear to be someone local with a grudge to bear, otherwise how else would the cat end up in its own back garden? It certainly didn't walk there on its own?

This has happened before. My daughters family lost their treasured pet in exactly the same way last year. However you feel about cats, I can assure you that to find a beloved animal in that state gives you nightmares for a long time. Who or what will these people pick on next?

This is very sad and disgusting from a very evil minded person who has no right of life. Pick on someone or something your own size who can fight back rather than an innocent harmless animal. Rosanna..North Watford.
