Iconic films made in Hertsmere will be aired at a series of open air cinema events across the borough next week.
Three films, all made at Elstree Studios, Borehamwood, will be shown next week as part of the celebrations marking 100 years of film and television in the borough.
The King’s Speech will be shown at the King George Recreation Ground, Chiltern Avenue, Bushey on Tuesday, August 26.
On Wednesday, August 27, residents will be able to see Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, starring Harrison Ford at Meadow Park, Borehamwood.
Sherlock Holmes and the Game of Shadows, starring Robert Downey Jr at Oakmere Park, Potters Bar will be aired on Thursday, August 28.
Councillor Brenda Batten, portfolio holder for leisure, culture and health, said: "What better way to celebrate this wonderful centenary than enjoying some of the great films that have been made in the area. I hope that many local residents will come along to enjoy these evenings and, hopefully, the weather will be kind."
All of the screenings start at 7pm and residents are being encouraged to bring a picnic, blanket or fold-up chair.
Rob Dodkin, Hertsmere Leisure’s operations and events manager, said: "This is a fantastic way to enjoy the beautiful King George Recreation Ground whilst showcasing the iconic films made on our doorstep. It will be a great event that all the family can enjoy."
